Sofiea Sakhi

Sofiea Sakhi is an Afghan journalist currently based in Paris, France. She left Afghanistan in 2021 following the Taliban’s return to power, amid growing threats to press freedom and the safety of journalists, particularly women journalists.

Before relocating, Sofiea worked as a reporter and presenter for Ariana Television, where she covered a broad range of political and social issues, with a particular focus on women’s rights, governance, and security.

She currently serves as a correspondent for Afghanistan International Television in Paris, continuing to report on Afghan affairs for a global audience. Her work highlights the experiences of the Afghan diaspora, migration issues, human rights concerns, and stories of resilience and resistance from within Afghanistan.

Sofiea represents a new generation of Afghan women journalists in exile who remain committed to keeping the voice of Afghanistan alive through independent and courageous journalism.
